2003, after 28 years with the VA, Mr. Leonard left his
government position and went into private practice to assist
veterans and their families with their VA claims. It goes
without saying that Mike’s long experience with VA and in
private practice have taught him many valuable lessons about
the claims and appeals process. While he cannot guarantee
success, he can assist claimants in getting the benefits they
seek, and in getting them quickly.
Leonard is a member of the bars of the U.S. Court of Appeals
for Veterans Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal
Circuit, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the District
of Columbia. He also served on the Board of Directors of the
National Organization of Veterans Advocates (NOVA) from
2007-2013, and as its Vice President from 2010-2013. Mike’s
practice is exclusively devoted to representing veterans and
their families. He does not practice law in the South Carolina
state courts and is not a member of that bar.
VA appeals process can be very long and frustrating. Mr.
Leonard places high importance in moving claims quickly and
avoiding unnecessary delay, so that claimants can receive the
greatest benefit promptly. Mike knows the system from top to
bottom and zealously represents the interests of veterans and
their survivors before the Courts and the VA.
